About Kelly

Hey y’all! My name is Kelly Regina Lowthian, and I am excited to be your 2024 Elite American Ms.

I’m 40 years old and have two beautiful daughters, 18 and 11 years old. I enjoy helping them and encouraging them to be strong, independent women, and leaders in the community. I was born and raised in California, and moved to North Carolina when I was about 19 years old.

With my title this year, I hope to bring awareness to eye health and amblyopia, which is close to my heart because, About 11 years ago when my youngest daughter was 3 months old, I noticed her eye turning in and was immediately confused and scared. My first thought was Oh My God, what did I do and how do I help my baby? After talking to doctors and finding out the word amblyopia otherwise known as lazy eye. I wanted to know more, like how and why it’s affected my child. So with some research I found out that some kids are born with amblyopia and others develop it later in childhood. I was also surprised to find out Amblyopia is the most common cause of vision loss in kids. Up to 3 out of 100 children have it. I hope to encourage you and your family to get your eyes checked.

Outside of the pageant world, I enjoy things such as, collecting salt and pepper shakers, going to country music concerts, thrift store shopping, watching the Golden Girls and of course watching my all time favorite football team the Green Bay Packers.

This year, I hope to make a lasting bond with my sister queens and make a big impact on not only my community, but surrounding community as well!
